hi, i'm Darra. i am a freelance illustrator and small business owner currently navigating a custody case that has created significant legal expenses.
to try to keep my family afloat and continue to advocate for my child during this incredibly difficult season I am offering a few ways to support my work directly: limited edition prints, custom commissions and my monthly snail mail print club.
every single purchase helps me be present for my kids and continue to have the representation that i need in order to continue the case.
Right now i'm in a season of trying to balance being a full-time work from home caregiver to my two kids, running a small business, and navigating an ongoing custody process for one of my children that has required a lot of unexpected legal costs. like most of us this economy has hit us hard, and it has been difficult to afford this on top of the needs of day to day life. the starving artist trope can be a little to real sometimes y'all lol.
What your support goes towards:
we are doing everything we can to handle this responsibly and independently but the reality is that legal representation is expensive. this page exists as a way to support my work and my family in a transparent way, through my art.
Supporting me from this page helps me maintain legal representation in an ongoing custody case, keeps my business stable during this high stress season
and allows me to continue providing for my children and give them the most stable life possible while we are navigating these massive unforeseen expenses.
Sadly, i did apply for legal aid but due to the volume of parents in need of legal representation for custody cases in my county they did not have any attorneys available.
i have retained legal representation and she is amazing, but after this last bill i realized that i won't be able to realistically continue her services much longer if i don't find a way to make that happen.
if you know of any attorneys in Maryland that do pro bono work or any other way i could get help with this i would greatly appreciate your advice and input.
this is not a case where i feel comfortable representing myself.

I post a lot of art on social media and i rarely ever turn those pieces into prints to sell (i really need to be better about that).
so you choose any piece i've posted and you will get a 8.5x11 (or as close as possible depending on the aspect ratio of the design) print of that piece!

Watercolor Puzzle Commissions:
if you follow me on socials you may remember the "puzzle" commissions i offered earlier this year. pretty much i take a super big sheet of watercolor paper and do my signature rainbow wet on wet watercolor background, and then i divide the sheet into 8 4x6 inch individual pieces. you choose what you'd like me to paint on top and i will paint it in holographic colorshifty paints! it can be anything your mind dreams up that will fit on a 4x6.
shipping is included.
please include in the personalization section what you'd like painted and if you have any fave colors or other little things you'd like me to keep in mind while painting.

Pet Portraits:
Would you want a larger commission of your furry or feathered friend than a 4x6? or maybe you'd prefer a digital or acrylic painting instead of watercolor, this is the spot for that! i absolutely love painting animals of all kinds and i'd love to paint your precious pet.

Family Portraits:
Maybe you want a portrait of you and your Loved ones! Portraits are normally too detailed to paint on a 4x6. you could get a watercolor portrait, acrylic portrait or a digital one. i have portraits of families with children but i do not share images of children in my public portfolio. if you'd like to see an example of a full family portrait, please reach out!
There are options for simpler faceless family portraits and go all the way up to full detail as seen in the photos above.
